PEOPLE’S FACES ARE THREATENED IN KRG EVERY DAY

Abstract- The term “face” is used metaphorically in pragmatics which stands for one’s social value, self-worth, self- image, manner and reputation. Face can be considered as the backbone of pragmatics. During social interaction, people try hard to protect their faces and their interlocutors’ faces. This self value is divided into two types: positive and negative. It is worth mentioning that our faces in Kurdistan Region of Iraq are threatened daily due to an action which is called Face Threatening Act. Such an act is influenced by power, social distance and size of imposition.
